We are certified kimono dressing instructors who are passionate about bringing Japanese kimono culture to Singapore. By learning about kimono, we hope that our students would glean further insights into Japanese culture, and enhance your visits to Japan. We offer both practical, and theory lessons in both English and Japanese.
Kimono dressing, or “kimono kitsuke” (着物着付け), requires specialised knowledge and practice to wear the kimono, and dress others in the traditional manner. The national dress of Japan, the kimono (lit. “thing to wear”) has a long history and comes in many varieties ranging from formal to casual. Depending on the time, place, and occasion, different kimono and obi combinations would be worn. Allow us to guide you through the intricacies of the kimono and obi; we hope to see you in class!
私たちは着付け師としてシンガポールに着物の文化を広めたいという思いから、Iro Iro Conceptsを始めました。着付けを通して、日本文化への理解をさらに深めていただけたらと考えておりますので、生徒さんのニーズに合わせて、英語と日本語の両方で、着付けの理論と実技のレッスンを提供します。
着付け、自装（自分で着せつけること）と他装（他人に着せつけること）両方とも知識と技術が必要です。
日本の伝統文化の一つでもある着物には、とても長い歴史があります。また、着物はTPOに合った着物と帯の組み合わせにより、フォーマルにもカジュアルなシーンでも愉しむことができます。理論と実技の両方組み合わせたレッスンを通して、様々な場面で着物を着ていただけるようサポートしていきます。

I’m a certified instructor from the Hakubi Kyoto Kimono Gakuin (ハクビ京都着物学院).
My lifelong interest in Japanese culture is greatly influenced by my father’s friend who is a tea ceremony instructor from the Omotesenke school, and teaches the Ikenobo school of Ikebana.
My first kimono experience was in a kindergarten school performance. Subsequently, when I studied abroad at the Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies, my host family were also involved in the kimono trade.
After moving back from the USA in 2012, I have been a member of The Japanese Association, Singapore (“JAS”). Since 2013, as a member of the JAS Kimono Kitsuke Interest Group (着物着付け同好会), I’ve been dressing attendees to the JAS Summer Festival since 2013. As a member of The Chado Urasenke Tankokai Singapore Association, I wear kimono for lessons, and presentations.
I work with Mari to develop curriculum, and manage company operations. I look forward to meeting you!

表千家の茶道家であり、池坊で生花を教えている父の友人の影響で日本文化に興味を持ち始めました。着物に初めて触れたのは幼稚園時代でしたが、学生時代に日本語を学びに京都へ留学した際のホストファミリーも着物に深い縁のあるご家庭であったことから、さらに着物に興味を持つようになりました。2012年に米国からシンガポールへ移住後、2013年より日本人会の着物着付け同好会の会員として、夏祭りなどで着付けを行なっております。また、茶道裏千家淡交会シンガポール協会の会員でもあり、日々着物を身につけております。一緒に着物を楽しみましょう。

I’m a certified instructor from the Tokyo Kimono Kitsuke Bunka Kyōkai (東京きもの着付け文化協会), and have been in Singapore for about 10 years.
I have a long family history with kimono – during the Meiji Era, my great-grandfather ran a wholesale business selling kimono. My interest in kitsuke was sparked when I was dressed in furisode for the Coming-of-Age Ceremony. My mother dressed me with a special obi that my grandmother used when she was young. Passed down through my family, this obi was more than fifty years old!
The true beauty of the kimono and obi is its ability to transcend generations, and create everlasting memories. Inspired by my mother and elder sister, both kitsuke teachers, my kitsuke learning journey began in 2006.
I’m so grateful that there are many who are interested in Japanese culture and its cuisine. Would you like to explore further, and embark on deeper insights to the culture through kitsuke? I’m excited to share memorable experiences with everyone!

明治時代に布問屋を営んでいた曽祖父の影響により幼い頃から着物に囲まれて過ごしました。自身の成人式の際に祖母が若い頃に使っていた帯を締めてもらったことを機に本格的に着物に興味を持ち始め、2006年から着付けを学び始めました。着物や帯は手入れをすれば、世代を超えて長く受け継いでいくことができます。ざっくばらんに都度ご質問いただけるようなアットホームなレッスンを目指します。
